Ensure that your passport has at least six (6) months validity period beyond the period for your travel. Make photocopies of your passport and leave it with either a friend or a family member before you leave Malaysia. It is also a good idea to carry along other forms of personal identifications like Driving Licence or MyKad (IC).
VISA

Some countries may require you to vaccinate against certain diseases before being allowed to enter the country. Make sure you acquire all the health documentation and approvals prior to departure.
TRAVEL TICKETS
Whether you are travelling by bus, plane, ship or train, you need to double-check the ticket details likes airport (whether KLIA or LCCT) and transport depot that you are travelling through; date of departure/arrival; and times of departure/arrival. Always make sure you are always at least two (2) hours earlier before the departure time, to avoid missing your flight.
ACCOMMODATION RESERVATION
Irrespective of the type of accommodation you have secured for your travel, you have to take note of the following key details: Name and phone number of the hotel or individual you shall be staying with; and exact address for the location. You need to carry this information with you at all times through your journey because certain law enforcement authorities like immigration and police may require you to provide them sometimes.

For convenience sake, make sure that you have enough foreign currency (either US Dollars or the exact currency of your travel destination). Again ensure you also have some Malaysian Ringgit (local currency) on you when you arrive and depart from your destination for any unforeseen contingencies.
Check your Credit/Debit Cards limits (including any daily limits) with your financial institution and verify where it can be used in your travel destination. Check with your bank for information on international ATM fees as well.
